"god's own land" part 3

My last few minutes in cochin!...Its complete chaos.......Our train is at nine and we have half an hour to get ready and leave....So bloggers...im going to try my best to let you know what I did today.
due to my obsession with fort cochin i decided to check out the oldest synagogue in Asia....built by the Jews and remodified by the Dutch about 2 years after it was built..Unfortunately i overlooked the fact that today was saturday and today's a day off..and the synagogue was closed!...to make up for it we decided to check out the fort cochin Dutch museum... Apparently a couple of years ago the dutch bombed a temple and they repaid the ruler varma by giving him their palace...which king varma used...as his headquaters and later moved in.
the museum was like a portal that took you back in time, with old drawings on the walls ,of the various kings, of lord krishna and other Hindu gods. there were some remains of the period of the dutch....like some hand made maps of "coychin" and coins ...Stamps..even some old Portuguese outfits in velvet trimmed with gold embroidery...a suit that belonged to king varma..decked in gold embroidery and loads of weaponry.....i was dumbstruck...exitement rushed!
we later went to have lunch at an out door eatery.."la rondez vous". where we could by fresh fish and give it to the cook to make it exactly the way were liked....*sigh*...i wish my trip was a little longer! im already late so i better stop now...will fill you in on more detalis when im on home ground. until then.....live strong and dream on!

"god's own land" part-2

5.30 a.m...Piiinnnng!!!! goes the clock alarm.."It's not supposd to be this way!!..im on holiday remember!" i screamed out loud trying to get my head to stop going bang bang in unison with the ping of the alarm..and to find my sister sound asleep as if the loud ping was just a bird churping...was another mind boggeling thing!
i decided to get out of bed at around 6.30 because lying in bed pretending to be asleep was not something i was good at. after going about my morning rituals i went strait out to the dining room. the ladies of the family were busy getting the breakfast ready i senced with the amazing smells from the kitchen, the men of the house...i.e my uncles and my dad, were glued to the television watching the repeat of yesterdays world cup matches, and me being a futbol fanatic myself headed straight to the couch!
at around 9.30 the exitement began.."tulsi wants us there as early as possible!..we have exactly one hour to get there!", "who took the iron?! i need it now"...."dont forget to take the camera!..wait dont we have to pick up mr.s and mrs.s on the way there?". questoins, orders, crys for help were heard all over the house as we all tried to get ready on time fortunately every one at home was ready by 10 and we reached the hotel where the engagement was to take place by 10.50...
The first thing i noticed when i enterd the hall was the bright colours in the room, all the ladies were so beautifully dressd with hair all pinned up as if out of a bridal magazine and my couzin, the bride-to-be all pretty in a red and gold saree sitting on the stage next to the groom-to-be. Cameras, relatives ,waiters with treys were all over the place people laughing, hugging as if reunited afer a long time; children running around, the parents to the to-be-newly weds running around making sure everything was alright. for some one like me who hasent been for a wedding in over 5 years this was a sight i was soo amused by- the colours, the lights, the decor, the sounds, the smells , and how could i forget! the food!
at the end of the function, you could see on evryones faces that all they wanted to do was just plop on their beds and catch up on some zzzzz's.
we got home at 4.00 pm. and decided that we should rest before we decided to venture out.
at around 6.00 opm we were on our way to fort cochin, if you havent been to fort cochin before make sure that fort cochin is your next destination on your next holiday trip.
in a way fort cochin is some what like goa, but since i havent been to goa yet, i cant comapare the two. but fort cochin is an amazing place!
we decided to dine at the koder house as we had herd alot about it, and trust me koder house was better than i expected. Before koder house became a lodge , it belonged to acouple of Jewish people for about 200 years and looked like something out of an english novel. actually alomst all the houses at fort cochin lokd like they were something out of an english novel.
koder house is a lodge with 8 to 10 suites all diffrent from each other, a spa centere, a restraunt that has amazing food and a cute little pool at the back.
another must se when you are in fort cochin!
my last day in cochin has arrived...which means im back to school in 2 days....*sigh**wimper wimper*
my fellow bloggers im off on my last day of adventure in cochin, and as i try to see the world from a new point of view i shall fill you in later. untill then--feast your eyes on this! the chinese fishing nets...only found in fort cochin..and an amazing sunset which i totaly fell in love with!!

"gods own land"

After my trip to malaysia last year in september to watch the motogp i decided to jott down evry thing that happens on every trip i ever go on, so i'l never ever forget the experiences i had.
this time im in chochin..
ocasion: my couzins engagement. time of blogg: 12.50 am.
on the aircraft as we reached cochin, the first thing i saw when i looked down was GREEN....green as in dark fresh greenery all over; but nothing could beat the view while we wer landing..oh man! that was beyond amazing!....a blue sky...greeen trees..Coconut trees hundreds all over! and red brick houses coverd with brownn dried coconut leaved rooftops...and the meandering river was beyond beautiful!
the airport was a cozy small place which loked like it was out of a drawing...and inside it were small stalls for tourist to book a resort and other stuff like that...it really fealt like you were in a coastal holidfay spot.
As soon as i reached my aunts place, my Couzin, as it was her engagement the next day, came rushing out and hugged us and dragged us into the room to get mehendi put on our hands.
"do you want it on both the sides of your hands? do you want it all the way till your elbow or just til your wrist??"...questions kept flowing and i had no clue which to answe first..so al i did was leave it to my couzin hoo went on rambelling very quickly in malayalam tellin the lasied to make it simple and that i had never put mehendi before.
The ladies while drawing out thwe pattern with the mixture spoke amongst them selves and acted as this was one of the easiest things ever creates..trust me, its NOT as easy as it looks.
i had to wait for 2 whole hours while the mehendi dried up before i could wash it off..and that was another iritating part because i wasent allowe to "wash" ti off..i simply had to scrape off all the driend mehendi and oil my hands for a litle while before i actualy washes it.(if you dont have patience and if you hapeen to be fidgity..this is not for you).
then the entier family...(ours is really really big)...gatherd outside in the garden for dinner and had a blast.
looking at my hands now, i hadnt realise how dark the print would be....and as my sis and i share our room with our couzins while we'r here...i better go to bed before i wake anybody up...
..with more news on the engagement i shall write 2morro.
good night..or rather good morning!
